PINEYWOODS NURSE AWARDS 
Rules and Guidelines

Submission deadline for the PNA Awards Program is December 8th, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. CST

Award winners will be announced during the Winter Break Late December of 2023.

General Rules and Guidelines:

• All applications must be submitted by December 8th, 2023. Please note that the Pineywoods Nurse Award Program (PNA) has the right to extend the deadline.

• Nominees for the PNA Nurse of the Year Nominations may be submitted directly to PNA through our Online Nomination Form System here

• To be eligible for consideration, an individual nominated must be employed at an eligible region area hospital, nursing and rehab facility, an RN/LVN of an assisted living or memory care unit, hospice, or skilled home health agency and be in good standing with organization.

• Nominations are not permitted from members of the Committee Board who will be reviewing or approving/rejecting and are representative of PNA while fundraising or otherwise; not acting on behalf of employed organization but respecting vendor partner compliance regulations and contributing only out of support for overall healthcare initiatives.

• All materials, essays and photos submitted become the property of PNA and may be used in publications or press/media coverage – excluding the mentioned stories or specific situations or winning nominations that we will ensure both parties nominee and nominator consent for story to be shared and preferences regarding.

• All incomplete nominations will be disqualified.

• PNA reserves the right not to include an award for certain facilities in regional area if few nominations are submitted or none at the facility or if applicants do not meet award eligibility criteria.

• Previous winners of any category are not eligible to win the same award (ie. Grand Award vs NOTY) more than twice and are not eligible to win in consecutive years.*

• All activities demonstrated by the nominee and used in the nomination must have been

performed in compliance with applicable state and federal labor laws.

• Winners will be selected this summer and notified by PNA. The Facility affiliate(s) and

nominators will also be notified at the same time. The awards will be presented over social media winter break 2023-2024 and pending ceremonies in coordination with facility affiliates.

• Once notified of their win, award recipients must provide a photo of themselves, if the photo

submitted with the entry doesn’t meet size and picture quality requirements.

• Winners will be sent a questionnaire follow up to fill out that will aid in press and award coverage and provide content in order to not disrupt their patient care environments and to help share their experiences and inspire or encourage others; these answers may be shared as quoted statements or in educational materials or press media for marketing and resourceful assistance. 

2023 Pineywoods Nurse of the Year Criteria

This award recognizes an RN or LVN in roles such as Administrator/Executive Director, Director of Nursing, or any nursing role position position who demonstrates outstanding innovation, achievement, and leadership in Hospitals, Skilled Facilities, and Home Care Agencies for Home Health & Hospice Services in the East Texas regional areas of Cleveland, Livingston, Corrigan, Groveton, Woodville, Trinity, Huntsville, Onalaska, Coldspring, Shepherd, and Plum Grove.

Shows capabilities in their provision of high-quality, person-centered care in a service-oriented culture

All nominees must meet the following criteria:

• RN/LVN Exhibits leadership, communication, and teamwork skills that are inherent in providing

high quality care in the skilled nursing, Hospital, or home care agency setting.

• Exhibits an active role in the facility’s local neighborhood/community to enhance not

only the lives of his/her residents, but to demonstrate facility’s commitment to being a

good neighbor and contributing to the overall welfare of the community.

• Is recognized by his/her peers as an exemplary leader and advocate of the residents and

staff.

• Demonstrates success by leading his/her community to deliver outstanding person-centered care and achieving a heightened quality of life for residents or patients.

• Displays integrity and a high standard of ethical behavior.

• Displays personal leadership and dedication to residents and staff.

• Shows initiative and performs above and beyond the call of duty. Provides comfort to the

residents, family members, and volunteers.

• Has a positive, uplifting attitude.

• Displays leadership, integrity, and a high standard of ethical behavior.


We are so humbled by the positive response and impactful movement that has taken off from this Program initiative that we are in great hopes of having our 2nd Annual Awards Program in the fall/winter 2023.
